The Burnsville Metric: Post-Ride Offerings |
|
|
After the ride, please join other Metric cyclists in the Town Center to rest and enjoy food and music. We are happy to have the Bluegrass Band from our local high school (Mountain Heritage) performing from 12:30 to 2:30. You don't want to miss them. They have had standing ovations at previous performances and are quite good. An authentic "hot" Mexican meal will be available for purchase, from noon to 2:30, provided by Yancey County's Hispanic community. All proceeds will be used for non-profit community projects. Also: "Hope for Hemlocks" - a benefit dedicated to saving hemlocks in the South Toe Valley will be held Saturday, April 26th (day of the ride) from 3-11pm at the Hootin' Owl Hall in the Toe River Campground. This event will include a teach-in (3:00-5:30pm) with four very knowledgeable educational speakers regarding the state of the hemlocks and treatment. In addition, there will be four musical performers (6:00-11:00pm), food vendors, a raffle of local artists’ work and lots of fun!! Everyone is welcome!
